Youth Director

Enneagram: 7w8 | APEST: Apostle | Spouse: Jenna Cavendish

Background: I am a lifelong San Diegan, born and raised in Rancho Peñasquitos. My family was active in our local Lutheran church, where I grew up attending Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and youth group. Church has always been a central part of my life; it’s even where I met my wife, Jenna, when we were both in 7th grade. We became close friends, started dating as high school sophomores in 2014, and joyfully married in 2022.

During middle and high school, I was blessed by mentors who nurtured my love for worship and serving others. Though I initially planned to pursue a career in law and began studying philosophy/pre-law at Gonzaga University, God had other plans. Through prayer and the guidance of faithful leaders, it became clear that he was directing me to work in vocational ministry. While in college, I served as a summer youth and worship intern at Penasquitos Lutheran Church (PLC), and a worship leader at my local college church in Spokane, Washington. After graduating from Gonzaga with a degree in Marketing, I joined PLC full-time as a worship leader and director of middle school and discipleship.

In the summer of 2025, God led me to Grace Church, where I am so grateful and excited to continue serving Him and his people.

Current role: As Youth Director at Grace, I have the privilege of leading our middle and high school students. Nothing makes me more excited than walking alongside young people and future leaders as they fall in love with Jesus and commit their lives to following him. In a world full of distractions and temptations, it’s so important for students to have a safe place where they can encounter the Holy Spirit, encourage one another, and build their lives on the firm foundation of God’s Word. I feel incredibly blessed to help create that space and to witness the Lord’s transforming work in their lives!

Hobbies: I have many active hobbies, including golf, running, playing Spikeball, volleyball, basketball, skiing, and doing just about anything adventurous outdoors. I also love listening to music, playing music, and creating music, so I play acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, and I am teaching myself piano and drums.

Fun fact: I own 8 guitars (and counting).
