Missionaries - Rich & Pearl Denham

March 2009

Dear Co-laborers,

Greetings once again from Brazil. It is hard to believe that 56 years have passed since the couple pictured here arrived in Manaus, Amazonas. The following note from old friends who visited us shortly after our return reminded us again of the passage of time. “It was good to see you both of you again-though it was apparent that you have been through the mill since we last saw you. Our little bodies are frail at best, but the Lord is our strength while He has something for us to do in His harvest field.”
Slowed down by our 81 years and further weakened by my Parkinson’s, we have been concerned about the continuation of the FIEL ministry. Though our son Rick and his wife Kimberlie have helped on a part time basis for the past four years, while supported by business contacts in the States, the need has been for a full time person to head up the ministry. We thank God for giving Rick a willing heart and the ability to see areas of need and find Biblical solutions.’
NEWS FLASH: RICK DENHAM has accepted by faith the challenge of stepping into the leadership role of Editora FIEL, the Brazilian arm of Christian Literature Advance.
Rick and Kimberlie will need encouragement and prayerful support during the coming months of adaptation to a different way of life. Funds to help meet the needs of their family should be sent to Christian Literature Advance with designation for Rick Denham.
We rejoice to see Rick and the FIEL team of 14 Brazilian workers using every available means to further the Gospel cause among the Portuguese speaking people of the world. If you would like to receive his family newsletter, please write him at and he will gladly add you to his mailing list.
Pearl and I want to hang you again for you prayerful support over the years. God has richly blessed our joint labors. Daily we see the fruit of the ministry. One of the three nurses that is helping Pearl met her husband to be at our annual youth conference. The daughter of one of our staff translators also met her future husband at our youth conference. They have asked me to give them marriage counseling.
As the Lord enables I will be spending much of my time seeking to be an encourager. My main task at the publishing house is to check the accuracy of the translations. At the moment I am working on a Portuguese edition of Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners by John Bunyon. I will also be writing in the Brazil report which will be mailed out 3 times this year. We will also be sending a NEW bi-monthly electronic newsletter. If you have access to email, please visit our site www.editorafiel.org and enter your address in the field provided. You will be encouraged to see what God is doing in the Portuguese-speaking world.
As I am writing Peal is playing the piano, which is music to my ears. She is recovering well from her stroke.
We can still be reached here by our USA Vonage number (864) 335-8451.
Thank you again for your love and prayers.

Rich and Pearl Denham
