Dear Friends,

ZAMBIA
February 6 Ken and four others traveled to Zambia to meet with the board of our Chrisitian micro finance partner. Our Zambia brothers and sisters warmly received us. See a great review of the week at: http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs032/1102162595944/archive/1102471498729.html Also check out www.peerservants.org

SHADOW MOUNTAIN CHURCH, EL CAJON
We had a wonderful week at the Shadow Mountain stewardship/mission festival the last week in January. The first two days the church staff designed just to encourage and build up us missionaries. One of the sessions was brilliantly led by a financial expert who really understands our nation's financial history and current situation.
The economic crisis is really, at heart, a moral crisis.

Then we had four busy busy days sharing Sports Friends with elementary, high school, college, and seminary students as well as SMCC members and new friends from their ethnic churches: Brazilians, Filipinos, Spanish, Arabic and others.

The Brazilian pastor has made a proposal for two or three to come with him to one of our sports camps this summer in Ethiopia. This will be a vision trip for them.

CARLSBAD, GLENDALE AND SAN GABRIEL
After the mission festival we had good times with Don, Leona, and Jon Edic--Phyllis' sister and family in Carlsbad. And then in Glendale there were a few invigorating days with sister Lynette, her husband Mike Davis and their family.
That Sunday morning we were at San Gabriel Union Church-where Ken grew up. The adult Sunday school class really engaged in our presentation about SIM's Sports Friends ministry. Maybe this church will soon partner with us in Thailand.

PRAYER AND PRAISE

  1. We are so thankful that our micro finance partner in Zambia is on the verge of giving their first loan.
  2. Pray that all the documents for the Bank of Zambia will soon be completed and processed by the Bank.
  3. Pray for Pierre, the pastor of the Brazilian church in California, that he and a few others will come to Ethiopia this summer, if this the best time.
  4. We are thankful for our children and our grandchildren as well as our extended family across the country. Pray that each will submit to the rule of Christ in their lives.
  5. Pray that Phyllis and I may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured. Colossians 3:12
