Missionaries - Dick & Darlene Need

September 2008
NOTES FROM THE NEEDS
How does one handle the excitement in looking forward to the assignment in Anápolis - the sadness of leaving family and friends and closing down the home here. We have done it several times but it seems to get a little harder the older we get. But, GOD IS FAITHFUL! And, so are YOU with your encouragement and prayers that are sustaining us each day.
"COMPLEI" CONFERENCE National Council of Evangelical Indian Pastors and Leaders: The conference is now over. Please continue to pray that the ones who made the commitments to evangelism, discipleship, training, Bible translation, and Christian growth, which are necessary to develop the truly indigenous church, will continue in their commitments.
Travel Plans: Our trip up the west coast was great. Dick actually spoke in 2 churches. May God call the laborers into the harvest fields. Whether it is to go or stay behind and "support the troops", both are important.
Oct 27th is the departure date. It is the first flight on which we can check our baggage all the way from Los Angeles to our destination in Brazil. Thanks to all of you who made it possible! Thanks for listening to God and "supporting the troops".
New e-mail addresses: We are now assigned out of the country so we will be back on the SIL domain (but @wycliffe.org will forward to us at SIL). Dick has chosen to use his name "Richard" as "Dick" seems to get stuck in the security systems.
;
New office address for SIL: Since we do not know how the mail system will be set up here is the SIL office our address in case you need to or just want to write to us is.

Caixa Postal 1923

Note: All financial gifts still go to Wycliffe Bible Translators in Orlando, FL.
Need of a car: We had originally hoped that we would not need a vehicle, but we have been told that the airport where Dick will be working is on the opposite side of town from the office location. After praying and having to make the decision now, we have agreed to purchase a 1998 Fiat from a colleague who is leaving. The cost is $6750. We have already received word of our first gift toward it.
Other projects: Kitchen cabinets - $700 Washing Machine - $500 Wardrobes - $400 each
More grandson help: For those of you who understand what I am about to say you will truly appreciate the gift of time that Aaron, Debi & Craig's older son, gave us. Aaron moved all our music CDs into MP3 format and then on to an external hard drive. Instead of a bunch of CDs we will be carrying just a 3x5" hard drive. We are laughing because this has pushed us into another level of technology that we hadn't needed. Oh my, what could be next? ☺
Serving together until the nations have heard,
Dick and Darlene Need
