November 2008

Dear Friends,

Happy Thanksgiving, dear ones!!

Dan spent the month of October going through withdrawals from India. For the first time in five years, he was not doing Christian camping with Arun during this season.

If we had been in India this past month, we would have been able to welcome Arun and Sumiran's first child, Suti, a precious girl.

Please pray for the new parents and baby. In addition to the sleeplessness of new parenthood, they have the extra health challenges of their tropical climate and living situation.

It is hard to realize that a year has passed since we watched helplessly from the other side of the world while our valley burned and our children were evacuated. Although it was stressful, we also had amazing peace, realizing that God is the ultimate Source of everything we need, and of "every good and perfect gift."

This knowledge strengthens us today as we look to the future of our country, our ministry, our lives.

God, in His sovereignty, chose to spare Indian Hills Camp (and our family!). It seems He has more for us to do here at this location☺.

Our Director and our Board recently placed before our staff the challenge of a new goal: that we should work toward making camp free for children to attend, so that they do no have to pay to hear the good news of reconciliation to God through Jesus Christ.

With the economy as it is, and the American mentality of "you get what you pay for" it will be interesting to see how God brings the children and provides the means to run camp.

Dan and I are not worried about those details. We believe that as we are obedient to what we know, and seek God, He will give us direction in those matters. Our biggest concern is that Satan will use the stresses of finances and policy changes to erode the unity of the staff.

Please pray for all of us as we walk through the changes ahead. It is so important for our leadership to actively build up the staff and purposefully value the relationships.

Speaking of relationships, we are trying to find a way of staying connected to you all more efficiently in this electronic age. Believing that most of you have e-mail access, we hope to switch over to an e-newsletter. In order to do this, we naturally need your help, as we do not have e-mail addresses for most of you. Please e-mail us at and let us know what your address is, so that we can keep you updated. Thank you so much! ☺

In addition to trying to work out the Board's challenge, we continue with regular camp business. Field trips and Indian Days programs fill our weeks, and Girl Scouts and YMCA groups fill our weekends. We want to show Jesus to all of these people as we serve them during their stay at Indian Hills.

Blessings,

The Bells
